HANOI – HA GIANG – HEAVEN’S GATE – NAM DAM VILLAGE

Start the day early with a 6.30am pickup from your hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter and make the journey by limousine bus to Ha Giang City. Arrive in time for lunch before driving to your final destination of Nam Dam Village.

Your drive will take you to over the Quan Ba Heaven Gate, which provides an incredible view over the Dong Van Geological Park.

The tranquil Nam Dam village is located in the midst of a romantic landscape with old earth-wall houses, located next to Sa Moc forest and a lovely natural freshwater lake.

Take a short trek in the afternoon to meet the Dao people who live in the area and learn a little about their culture and customs. You’ll also have the chance the swim in a waterfall near the village or bath with Dao herbal medicines (for an extra fee of $5).

Spend the night at your homestay and enjoy a homecooked meal with your hosts and travel companions.

NAM DAM VILLAGE – DONG VAN

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at your homestay before a day of exploring Dong Van.

Your drive today will take you through the magnificent karst plateau of Dong Van and then into the old town itself. Enjoy lunch before a walking tour of the old town. Your first stop is the Palace of H’mong King – one of the most important cultural and historical monuments in Dong Van. 

Moving deeper into the centuries-old village – where the Tay ethnic minority people live, relying on farming and making corn wine – and admire the ancient roofs over 100 years old.

We’ll check into your hotel in Dong Van town in the afternoon and then you’ll have the evening free to have dinner and further explore the old town.

DONG VAN – KHAU VAI – MEO VAC

If you feel like an early wake-up, you can visit the Dong Van market before breakfast and get a feel for the local rhythm of the town. We’ll depart for Meo Vac at 8am.

Today, we’ll cross the Ma Pi Leng Pass – called the Happy Road – where you can admire the majestic landscape of the Ma Pi Leng canyon 800m deep and the Nho Que River below.

We’ll then pay a visit to the village of Lo Lo people live mainly in upland fields, with livestock and small businesses. Ethnic and cultural life is sheltered from Vietnam’s modernity here and the women wear beautiful traditional dress almost every day.

Have lunch at a local restaurant in Meo Vac town and check in to your hotel.

In the afternoon, visit Khau Vai village for the famous Khau Vai love market. While the full love market festival dates are only in March, your guide will regale you with the legends and tales of love and loss that gave the market its name.

Return to Meo Vac, freshen up at your hotel and have dinner in the area. You are then free to explore Meo Vac town at night.

MEO VAC – DU GIA

Check out and have breakfast early for an 8am departure to Du Gia village. The journey will take a couple of hours, through spectacular mountain scenery and endless, colourful terraces.

On arrival in the village, check in at your homestay and have lunch with your hosts. It’s then time to explore the village.

Also known as Fairy Village, famous for the wild and majestic mountains and rivers that surround the village. Wander between the homes of the Tay and Hmong people and no doubt experience, their generous hospitable and friendly nature.

After a hot and dusty walk, you can then cool off in the Ngam Luong waterfall. Head back in the afternoon in time for a cooking class or a spot of fishing for the evening meal!

DU GIA – QUAN BA – HANOI

Enjoy your final morning in Ha Giang, soaking in the fresh mountain air and beautiful views over breakfast at your homestay.

You’ll leave Du Gia early and make another stop at Heaven’s Gate in Quan Ba on the way to Hanoi. Arrive in the early afternoon.
