3 Days / 4 Nights Train, Trekking, Homestay and Hotel
This mini adventure includes 2 nights on the sleeper train, 1 night in a traditional homestay and 1 night indulging in a hotel. For those wanting a little extra comfort, you can upgrade your sleeper train and hotel…
However, the homestay is not to be missed!
Night 1: Hanoi – Lao Cai (Overnight train)
Start your journey with a taxi from your hotel in Hanoi to the Railway Station for the 9.30pm night train to Lao Cai Station. There are options for 4 or 6 person cabins at different levels of luxury, depending on your budget.
Day 2: Lao Cai – Sapa – Lao Chai – Ta Van Village
Your transfer will be waiting to meet you when you arrive at Lao Cai station at 6:00am. Enjoy the beautiful scenery on the 1 hour drive up to Sapa town.
Have breakfast in town before heading on to Lao Chai village. On the way observe the tiny villages nestled among the steep rice terraces. You’ll want to make sure your camera is ready for pictures! In Lao Chai, visit the traditional wood and bamboo houses of the H’mong.
Continue on to Tavan village to visit the Dzay minority where you will stay for the night with a local family. A homecooked feast with plenty of rice wine will be one of the highlights of the trip .
Day 3: Ta Van – Giang Ta Chai – Su Pan
Get up early in the morning to observe the daily life of your host family. After breakfast, take to the small paths between terraces and bamboo forests to reach the Giang Ta Chai village of the Red Dzao minority.
From there visit the magnificent silver waterfall and the Rattan suspension Bridge while crossing throuhg the Muong Hoa valley- thought to be the most beautiful in all of Sapa.
The last village of the trek is Supan village of the H’mong. You’ll then head back to Sapa by jeep. On the way back, stop at the ancient stone circle where the stones are decorated with ancient carvings.
Spend the night in a local Sapa hotel and explore the bustling town by night.
Day 4: Catcat – Laocai – Hanoi (Overnight on the train)
After breakfast in Sapa town, visit the village of the black H’mong in Cat Cat. Wander through the village and visit the hydroelectric power station built by the French in days of occupation, chatting with the locals you meet along the way.
Have lunch back in town and then spend time explorig before transferring to Lao Cai Station for the night train back to Hanoi. You’ll arrive in Hanoi around 5.00am.
