About Central Vietnam

Central Vietnam is a land of extraordinary contrasts — where ancient imperial grandeur meets pristine coastlines, where misty mountain passes overlook turquoise bays, and where centuries of history breathe life into every street corner and temple doorway. Stretching along the narrow waist of the country, this remarkable region offers Indian travellers a deeply immersive experience that goes far beyond the typical tourist trail.

At the heart of Central Vietnam lies Hue, the former imperial capital of the Nguyen Dynasty. Here, the magnificent Citadel — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — stands as a testament to Vietnam’s royal past. Wander through the Imperial Enclosure, explore the elaborate royal tombs that line the Perfume River, and savour the city’s legendary cuisine, widely regarded as the most refined and complex in all of Vietnam. Hue’s dishes — from bánh bèo to bún bò Huế — were originally crafted for emperors, and tasting them today feels like a privilege passed down through generations.

Just a short journey south, Da Nang emerges as Central Vietnam’s modern heartbeat. A dynamic coastal city framed by the stunning Son Tra Peninsula and the iconic Dragon Bridge, Da Nang has transformed in recent decades into one of Southeast Asia’s most exciting urban destinations. Its beaches — particularly My Khe — stretch for kilometres of golden sand, while the nearby Ba Na Hills offer a surreal mountain retreat complete with the famous Golden Bridge, held aloft by two giant stone hands. For Indian travellers accustomed to vibrant city energy, Da Nang delivers a compelling blend of natural beauty and contemporary comfort.

Nestled between Hue and Da Nang, the ancient trading port of Hoi An is perhaps Central Vietnam’s most enchanting jewel. Its UNESCO-listed Old Town glows with hundreds of silk lanterns after dusk, casting a warm, dreamlike light over centuries-old merchant houses, Japanese covered bridges, and French colonial facades. By day, Hoi An invites you to cycle through rice paddies, watch skilled artisans at work, take a cooking class in a riverside garden, or commission a bespoke garment from one of its legendary tailors — all within a single afternoon.

Beyond its iconic cities, Central Vietnam rewards the curious traveller with hidden discoveries at every turn. The Hai Van Pass — one of the most dramatic coastal mountain passes in Asia — offers breathtaking views of cloud-draped peaks meeting the South China Sea below. The My Son Sanctuary, a collection of ancient Hindu temples built by the Cham civilisation between the 4th and 14th centuries, holds particular resonance for Indian visitors, offering a fascinating window into the deep historical and cultural connections between India and Southeast Asia. The Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, contains some of the world’s largest and most spectacular cave systems, including the extraordinary Son Doong — the largest cave on Earth.

Central Vietnam’s climate follows its own distinct rhythm. The northern reaches around Hue experience a cooler, wetter season from October to February, while Da Nang and Hoi An enjoy their driest and sunniest months between February and August — making the region a year-round destination depending on where you choose to focus your journey.

For Indian travellers, Central Vietnam offers an experience that resonates on multiple levels — its reverence for history and ancestry, its deeply spiritual relationship with food and ritual, its warmth and hospitality, and its extraordinary natural landscapes. Whether you arrive seeking ancient temples, pristine beaches, world-class cuisine, or simply the joy of wandering through streets that feel frozen beautifully in time, Central Vietnam will not merely meet your expectations — it will quietly exceed them in ways you did not anticipate.

  • Winter weather in Vietnam varies by region, with cold conditions in the north, heavy rain in central areas, and warm, dry weather in the south, so packing should be planned accordingly.
  • In Hanoi, Sapa, Ha Giang, and Ninh Binh, temperatures can drop to 8–15°C, and early mornings often bring dense fog that reduces visibility and delays road travel.
  • In Sapa and Fansipan, winter temperatures can fall close to 0°C, and trekking trails become slippery due to frost and moisture, making proper hiking shoes and warm layers essential.
  • Road travel in mountainous areas such as Sapa, Ha Giang, and Da Lat becomes risky during rain due to fog, landslides, and sharp curves, so night driving in these regions should be avoided.
  • Drug laws in Vietnam are strictly enforced, and possession of even small quantities can result in severe legal penalties.
  • Mobile networks are reliable in cities but weaker in remote or mountainous regions, so downloading offline maps before travel is recommended.

A big thank you to Tony and Lucy for making my 14 days customed built tour from Hanoi, Sapa, Danang, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh an amazing adventure. Tony has been very understanding and patient. Lucy is cheerful and friendly and has been so helpful at making sure that I know what to expect everyday on my tour. I will miss her daily text now that the tour is over. Both Tony and Lucy went above and beyond to make my vietnam adventure one of my best trip ever. If you want to visit Vietnam I highly recommend Lily's Travel Agency. They have the best staff.

We couples from India had a wonderful 6 days tour in Vietnam last week of March 2026 with Lillys Travels, Vietnam. Ms. Mina was our tour programmer. I would say she is very particular and having good convincing skill what exactly required for. Everything was well organised and timely reminders from Ms. Mina, made easy for us to roam around in Vietnam. Everyday she used to send the details of next day program. Ms. Mina was all time available in whatsapp whenever I have a question. We had overall wonderful experience in Vietnam with Lillys Travels and with Ms. Mina. I suggest Lillys Travels for everyone if you look for a tension free tour in Vietnam....Of course I mention Ms. Larissa from Lilly Travels who helped me to initial booking formalities. Thanks and love to Ms. Mina and all lovely team of Lilly's Travels, Vietnam.....

Our Vietnam family holiday became truly unforgettable thanks to Lily’s Travel, Hanoi. From the moment we landed in Ho Chi Minh City until our departure from Hanoi, every detail was thoughtfully planned and flawlessly executed. Our 8-day journey across Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hoi An, and Hanoi included comfortable hotels, private airport transfers, well-timed group tours, and unique experiences such as the Ba Na Hills cable car ride, Golden Hand Bridge, Fantasyland, Halong Bay cruise ride, Coconut boat ride, and historical Cu Chi Tunnels. Everything ran smoothly, allowing us to relax and enjoy Vietnam’s beauty without any stress. The Lily’s Travel team, led by Mr C’jay, were always prompt, polite, and reassuring in their communication. He responded even after office hours. The tour cost was reasonable and provided excellent value for money. Our appreciation also goes to little Ms Lily, who personally guided us during our Hanoi city tour. Her deep local knowledge, friendly nature, and thoughtful arrangements—including a customised vegetarian lunch—made the experience very special. The visit to Hanoi Train Street was a great fund and Temple of Literature was a historical memory. Car driver Mr Anh Khiem during the Hanoi private tour also deserves appreciation for driving safely within the chaotic traffic in the small streets of Hanoi. It is worthwhile mentioning that the car was technically very good and made in Vietnam. The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly Bana Hills and Fantasyland , where the temperature dropped dramatically to 2°C with strong winds, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience along with breathtaking views and a well-organised Indian lunch. Best time to visit Vietnam is Nov mid to March. Lily’s Travel didn’t just organise a tour—they created memories. I highly recommend them to anyone visiting Vietnam and looking for a reliable, professional, trustworthy and caring travel partner. I’ll avail myself of their services during my next trip to Vietnam. Very Good job Lily's team, Keep it up.
