About Central Vietnam

Central Vietnam is a land of extraordinary contrasts — where ancient imperial grandeur meets pristine coastlines, where misty mountain passes overlook turquoise bays, and where centuries of history breathe life into every street corner and temple doorway. Stretching along the narrow waist of the country, this remarkable region offers Indian travellers a deeply immersive experience that goes far beyond the typical tourist trail.

At the heart of Central Vietnam lies Hue, the former imperial capital of the Nguyen Dynasty. Here, the magnificent Citadel — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — stands as a testament to Vietnam’s royal past. Wander through the Imperial Enclosure, explore the elaborate royal tombs that line the Perfume River, and savour the city’s legendary cuisine, widely regarded as the most refined and complex in all of Vietnam. Hue’s dishes — from bánh bèo to bún bò Huế — were originally crafted for emperors, and tasting them today feels like a privilege passed down through generations.

Just a short journey south, Da Nang emerges as Central Vietnam’s modern heartbeat. A dynamic coastal city framed by the stunning Son Tra Peninsula and the iconic Dragon Bridge, Da Nang has transformed in recent decades into one of Southeast Asia’s most exciting urban destinations. Its beaches — particularly My Khe — stretch for kilometres of golden sand, while the nearby Ba Na Hills offer a surreal mountain retreat complete with the famous Golden Bridge, held aloft by two giant stone hands. For Indian travellers accustomed to vibrant city energy, Da Nang delivers a compelling blend of natural beauty and contemporary comfort.

Nestled between Hue and Da Nang, the ancient trading port of Hoi An is perhaps Central Vietnam’s most enchanting jewel. Its UNESCO-listed Old Town glows with hundreds of silk lanterns after dusk, casting a warm, dreamlike light over centuries-old merchant houses, Japanese covered bridges, and French colonial facades. By day, Hoi An invites you to cycle through rice paddies, watch skilled artisans at work, take a cooking class in a riverside garden, or commission a bespoke garment from one of its legendary tailors — all within a single afternoon.

Beyond its iconic cities, Central Vietnam rewards the curious traveller with hidden discoveries at every turn. The Hai Van Pass — one of the most dramatic coastal mountain passes in Asia — offers breathtaking views of cloud-draped peaks meeting the South China Sea below. The My Son Sanctuary, a collection of ancient Hindu temples built by the Cham civilisation between the 4th and 14th centuries, holds particular resonance for Indian visitors, offering a fascinating window into the deep historical and cultural connections between India and Southeast Asia. The Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, contains some of the world’s largest and most spectacular cave systems, including the extraordinary Son Doong — the largest cave on Earth.

Central Vietnam’s climate follows its own distinct rhythm. The northern reaches around Hue experience a cooler, wetter season from October to February, while Da Nang and Hoi An enjoy their driest and sunniest months between February and August — making the region a year-round destination depending on where you choose to focus your journey.

For Indian travellers, Central Vietnam offers an experience that resonates on multiple levels — its reverence for history and ancestry, its deeply spiritual relationship with food and ritual, its warmth and hospitality, and its extraordinary natural landscapes. Whether you arrive seeking ancient temples, pristine beaches, world-class cuisine, or simply the joy of wandering through streets that feel frozen beautifully in time, Central Vietnam will not merely meet your expectations — it will quietly exceed them in ways you did not anticipate.

  • Winter weather in Vietnam varies by region, with cold conditions in the north, heavy rain in central areas, and warm, dry weather in the south, so packing should be planned accordingly.
  • In Hanoi, Sapa, Ha Giang, and Ninh Binh, temperatures can drop to 8–15°C, and early mornings often bring dense fog that reduces visibility and delays road travel.
  • In Sapa and Fansipan, winter temperatures can fall close to 0°C, and trekking trails become slippery due to frost and moisture, making proper hiking shoes and warm layers essential.
  • Road travel in mountainous areas such as Sapa, Ha Giang, and Da Lat becomes risky during rain due to fog, landslides, and sharp curves, so night driving in these regions should be avoided.
  • Drug laws in Vietnam are strictly enforced, and possession of even small quantities can result in severe legal penalties.
  • Mobile networks are reliable in cities but weaker in remote or mountainous regions, so downloading offline maps before travel is recommended.

We chose Lily’s Travel to plan our trip of a lifetime covering 4 weeks and travelling across 3 countries as it was becoming complex. We cannot recommend this company highly enough for their supreme customer service and care and concern. We were met by a luxury private car every time, with a card showing our name and always knew which registration and driver to expect. It was very comforting when you have 6 drivers pestering you upon arrival, mostly feeling hot and bothered! The hotels they chose were always plush, and centrally located and we were often upgraded. The trips they arranged were always very efficient and super value, often with a local meal included some of which were extremely posh. On the evening before each trip we always got a WhatsApp detailing the name of the tour guide, his number and our pick up time. The Tour Guides were super professional, and flexible and very often we had a private tour with a private, air conditioned car and a driver who was always waiting with iced water and cool tissues in hand. We felt like VIPs!Doris and Mina from Lily’s Travel were super responsive when we reached out with queries and also very flexible when, punished by the heat or feeling ill, we asked to move trips around or cancel stuff. These ladies felt like our own personal team and it was so comforting to know they were there, day and night if we needed them.As always with such a long and complex trip there were hiccups but they resolved things so quickly and with SUCH a good solution we were never ever let down. In fact we felt special and valued. They arranged a contact in Cambodia and our trips and tour guides, and transport there and oversaw the whole thing and constantly checked that we were OK.I would highly recommend them and would always use them for future trips. They made the whole trip so smooth and seamless and we cannot thank them enough. A truly world class service - exceptional customer care

Xin chàoAwesome service by Lily’s travel agency .I have never written a review like this. You must read our story to know more about the service snd support from Lily’s travelsThis was our first international trip after marriage and I was very sceptical about this tour. Then found Lily’s travel and I got the WhatsApp number of Mr. Koi from a video on youtube. Started communicating with him and got the best quote from him for our 8 days Vietnam tour. By paying only some percentage of the total amount we got all the hotel, cruise and car bookings confirmed just in two days.Koi is one of the most sincere people I have ever met in my life. He never stepped back from our questions and queries. He knows the importance of a tourist to his country Vietnam. I salute to his professionalism and the way he customised the tour as per our desire. The best part was a day before our trip, we got an online meeting with Ms. May from Lily’s Travel regarding the Itinerary and she elaborated each and every point. She was very humble and very professional. Along with Koi, She also played a vital role in our trip. When we reached Vietnam, then also I had a doubt on the service that they confirmed but the service was really really awesome which was out of our imagination. Here comes Ms. Mina, the most interesting person of Lily’s Travel agency. She was soooo welcoming and really knows how to handle guests at their office. I am sure that if you visit their office, you’ll love the way she talks with a smiling face. I think she’s one of the people who knows how to represent their country and their culture in front of the people from other countries. She taught me some Vietnamese and I was her good student .Last but not the least, Ms. Lusi…..She also greeted us as soon as she saw us at the entrance of their office. She was so calm and friendly with us and arranged for our seating at the office. Hey….she gave us welcome gifts also ha. You’ll also get and that’s a surprise. Finally with their support, we travelled to Hanoi, Da Nang and Hoi An and had covered all the tourist points in those places.Tour guides Ms. Jin, Mr.Lung and Mr. Hero are sooo knowledgeable and friendly with us. They didn’t let us feel bored at any moment.Within our budget, We got best hotels, vehicles in all the places we traveled and along with that one of the best cruises “ Aqua of the Seas” where we got a suite room with balcony. All the people are very punctual and we got the ON TIME SERVICE by the entire team.Cảm ơnTeam .Thanks again for the awesome support and hospitality. Thanks for making our trip a memorable one. We wish to visit Vietnam and you people againtạm biệt
