Day 1

Meet your guide early at your hotel for the 3.5 hour bus trip to the harbour, Board your traditional Ha Long junkboat, check into your cabin and enjoy a traditional Vietnamese lunch while you cruise through the majestic limestone karsts of Halong Bay.

In the afternoon explore the beautiful Surprise cave, one of thousands in the bay, and then back to the boat to cruise through other small islets in the bay: Head man’s face islet, Saddle horse islet, Fairy lake, Drum cave and Virgin cave.

Enjoy a family style dinner of traditional Vietnamese dishes and get to know your fellow shipmates. Once the stars come out, why not try your hand at squid fishing!

Day 2

Wake up to the tranquil sounds of the ocean and start your day with breakfast on board the boat.

Transfer to a day boat for a cruise to the Three Peach Beach or Soi Sim island in beautiful Lan Ha Bay (depending on theweather). Spend some time swimming and relaxing on the beach, below the magnificent rocky cliffs.

Cruise on to the Bright and Dark cave area, where you will have lunch and then take to the water to explore by kayak.

In the afternoon visit a floating pearl farm to see how the local fisherman cultivate these beautiful natural  gems and take the opportunity to buy a unique souvenir.

Cruise back to Halong Bay for your second night aboard the boat that now feels a little like home.

Day 3

Start your day with Tai Chi on the deck before enjoying breakfast as your cruise to Bai Tu Long Bay. The route is very tranquil, and often empty, letting the natural environment shine.

Take a small local bamboo boat to Vong Vieng floating fishing village and learn about how this local community live and work.

Enjoy a cooking demonstration and mini class back on the boat as you cruise back to the harbous. Have a final group lunch and then wave goodbye to beautiful Halong Bay.

Arrive back in Hanoi by bus in the early evening.

Lily’s suggestion:

If you want to explore off the beaten track Halong Bay, why not book a Bai Tu Long Cruise and head away from the crowds?
