Best time to visit Khem Beach

In Phu Quoc in general and Bai Khem in particular, the weather is divided into two distinct seasons – dry season and rainy season – each season has different characteristics, suitable for each type of tourism.
- From November to April (dry season): This is the most ideal time to visit Phu Quoc Khem Beach. The weather is mostly sunny, the average temperature is about 26-32°C, the air is dry, there is little rain, the sea is calm and the water is clear as jade. From December to March is the “peak” period of the tourist season, very suitable for swimming, kayaking, diving to see coral or taking outdoor photos. The evenings in this area are also quite pleasant, cool and with little strong wind, convenient for walking on the beach or eating seafood along the shore.
- From May to October (rainy season): The weather begins to appear short showers, especially from July to September there may be heavy rain and slightly rough seas. Average temperatures range from 27–30°C, with high humidity, but the rains are usually short-lived and the sun often breaks. The transitional months of May–June and October are still sunny, with clear waters and fewer tourists—suitable for those looking for quiet and cheaper prices than during peak season.

Khem beach vs. other beaches in Phu Quoc
Phu Quoc has many large and small beaches, but if you count the famous and exploited beaches for tourism, there are about 15-20 main beaches stretching from North to South of the island. Each beach has its own unique features, from wild, quiet to vibrant, modern such as Sao Beach, Long Beach, Ganhh Dau Beach, Ong Lang Beach…
However, tourists still choose Khem Beach because of its charm. This comes from the luxury, quietness and purity of the beach. Khem Beach Phu Quoc is very suitable for tourists looking for a high-class resort space and other chareactres.
The sand is especially smooth and white
Unlike most beaches in Phu Quoc with yellow or slightly dark sand, Khem Beach has a strip of pure white sand, smooth and soft, rare on the island – this is also the origin of the name “Kem Beach”.
Peaceful and high-class atmosphere
Khem Beach is separated from the center so it is much quieter than Truong Beach or Duong Dong. This area is planned to be associated with 5-star resorts such as JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, so the environment is clean, secure and high-class service.
Calm sea, clear blue water all year round
Due to its location in a closed bay, Bai Khem is less affected by strong winds and waves. The sea here is always clear, very suitable for bathing, swimming, kayaking or diving to see coral.
Near many famous attractions
Just a few minutes away from Phu Quoc Prison, An Thoi town and Hon Thom cable car station, visitors can easily combine many experiences in the same journey.
Natural landscape and unique architecture
This area is also famous for the unique artistic design of JW Marriott by architect Bill Bensley – becoming a “million-view” check-in point for international tourists.
Travel tips and useful information for visiting Khem Beach

When coming to Bai Khem, visitors should carefully prepare their clothes and belongings to fully enjoy the beauty of this place. Indispensable items include swimsuits, scarves, slippers, sunscreen, sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats to protect your skin from the sun.
If you plan to dive to see the coral, you should bring long-sleeved swimsuits to avoid scratches and sunburn. In addition, visitors should also limit the amount of valuable items they bring because they are difficult to keep an eye on when swimming.
In terms of food, around Bai Khem area, there are a number of local seafood restaurants such as Ngoc Hien or Bai Khem Restaurant, where you can enjoy fresh and delicious dishes typical of Phu Quoc.
However, prices here are often higher than in the center, so you should ask for the price before ordering. If you stay at high-end resorts such as JW Marriott or New World Phu Quoc, you can easily enjoy the cuisine on the premises with attentive and convenient service.
There are also a variety of activities to experience at Bai Khem. In addition to swimming, sunbathing or taking photos to check in with the blue sea and white sand, you can also join a snorkeling tour or visit An Thoi fishing village to learn about the lives of local fishermen.
If you have time, you should combine a visit to famous neighboring islands such as Hon Mong Tay, Hon Gam Ghi or Hon May Rut by canoe – this is a popular itinerary for many tourists.
Besides having fun, you also need to pay attention to ensuring safety and protecting the environment.
Do not swim too far from shore, especially when the tide is high or there is a warning from lifeguards. Avoid littering, refrain from taking coral or marine life as souvenirs, and always supervise children when swimming, as the afternoon waves can be strong.
