  • April to May, the Water-Pouring Season, is when visitors may see terraced fields that reflect the sunshine, making beautiful and unique scenery.
  • This is the most beautiful time of year, from August to October, when the rice turns a bright golden hue and makes a stunning natural image that is ideal for hiking and taking pictures.
  • February to March (Early Spring): The hillsides are covered in peach and plum flowers, which make the air feel fresh and lovely.
  • December to February (Winter): The temperature is very cold, and sometimes it snows, covering everything in white. It’s not something that happens very often, especially if you want to eat hot local food and get into the holiday atmosphere of the New Year.

Foreign tourists often rent hotels in the center of Sapa town, then depart for Sapa tourist destinations such as Cat Cat village, Muong Hoa valley, Ta Van village. Because it is about 12 km from the center of Sapa town, tourists should often rent a motorbike taxi, taxi or car to get to Ta Van village. This is also a way for you to admire all the natural beauty of Sapa.

From Sapa town, you move through Cau May street, follow the flow of Muong Hoa stream to Ta Van village. From Muong Hoa street, you go through Sapa city center to reach the ticket station. From this ticket station, you will be guided to Ta Van village. At the beginning of the village, there is a red iron bridge across Muong Hoa stream leading to Ta Van village. 

In addition, today, due to the need to develop tourism, Sapa has exploited many routes, each route turns to a different village, so for backpackers, those who like to explore the way, you can follow the paths leading to different villages.

  • Clothes: You should bring warm clothes, sneakers or hiking shoes to easily move on mountainous terrain and remember to bring a raincoat, even though the weather can change suddenly
  • Book a homestay in advance: To avoid the situation of no rooms available, especially during peak season, you should book accommodation in advance
  • Prepare ID: Don’t forget to bring your citizen ID or personal documents to do the procedures to stay at the homestay or when necessary during the trip…

Note for you: 

A few years ago, there was no entrance fee to Ta Van village. The entrance gate was not strictly controlled. The most tourist attractions in Sapa collect tickets and Ta Van village is no exception. The purpose of collecting tickets is to support the lives of people in Ta Van village.

The entrance fee for the first time at Ta Van village is 75,000 VND/adult. However, the gate is not very strict. On bad weather days or at noon, there will be no ticket inspectors, so you can visit for free. Or those who take a taxi to the village will not be checked for tickets… 

Nearby attractions around Ta Van

Nearby places in Ta Van village include Lao Chai village, Cau May village, and Muong Hoa valley, about 7-12km from Sapa town. You can get to Ta Van from Sapa town via Cau May and Muong Hoa road, then continue along the stream for about 1km to get there. Popular means of transportation are motorbike, taxi, or trekking, with the trekking option helping you experience the best natural landscape.
