Visitors looking above will notice a narrow parallel road running high along the foot of a sizable white limestone mountain as they go via Ma Pi Leng pass on their way to explore the northern region of Ha Giang province. The route was taken while traversing the White Cliffs and experiencing various emotions.

The 5-kilometer-long White Cliffs Walk connects Ma Pi Leng hamlet in Pa Vi commune to Xeo Sa Lung village in Pai Lung commune via the “White Cliff” at the summit of Co Tien mountain. The mild complexity of the trekking path makes it a good choice for novice climbers.

The Happiness Road Museum is where the voyage begins. If you are daring enough to ride a motorbike, then head straight for about 3 km. The road is on one side of the cliff. Before the construction of National Highway 4C, locals used this route to conduct business between Dong Van and Meo Vac. Every day, people still use this road to get to the market, farms, and schools.

Visitors will undoubtedly be in awe of the majesty of the natural beauty, the pure blue skies, and the winding Nho Que river that divides the mountains and hills, which is why it is known as “The Road to the Foot of Clouds.” You can feel the mountains and hills breaking apart if you touch the brink.

Additionally, there is a sizable cliff on this pass where you may do cloud hunting right there with clouds floating all about. Following that, the path descends to the valley below; continuing will bring you to the summit of Co Tien mountain. Simply follow the route mentioned above to reach the observatory with a view of the Ma Pi Leng pass. Here, in the dim Tu San alley, you can take in the expansive view of the green silk strip of the Nho Que River. You arrive at the White Cliffs along the trail.

Next to the White Cliff, there is a hollow cliff, creating a space that can accommodate about 5 or 6 single tents. From an altitude of about 1,700m above sea level, looking down is Nho Que river, far away from undulating blue mountains and an enchanting winding road of Ma Pi Leng pass. The beautiful, majestic natural scenery makes us ecstatic.

On the winding road to the left and right of the mountain, you will always feel amazed at the scenery that appears after each turn. You will always be surprised and stop from time to time to admire and take pictures of the rocky mountains and Nho Que river, which are very different at each angle.
