With its incredibly diverse landscape and beautiful national parks, Vietnam is an amazing destination for adventure travel. What’s more is Vietnam adventures include something for every kind of traveller. From kayaking in Halong Bay to caving adventures in Phong Nha, adventures in Vietnam will make your trip unforgettable!

Without further ado, here is our pick for epic adventures in Vietnam!

Kayaking in Halong Bay

When choosing your Halong Bay tour, you’ll definitely want to make sure that it includes kayaking. Paddling along the calm waters of the bay below towering limestone islands is one of the most amazing experiences to have in Vietnam and should not be missed. One of our favourite places to kayak in Halong Bay is Light & Dark Cave.

Hiking in Sapa

After Halong Bay, Sapa is definitely one of the most popular destinations in Vietnam and there are plenty of adventures to be had here. In Sapa, you’ll find Vietnam’s highest mountain, Mt. Fansipan which takes 2 days to hike! Our favourite hike, though, is through the villages and rice terraces with a local guide. Our trekking with Mao tour often ends up being traveller’s favourite part of their Vietnam trip. You can read all about this Sapa adventure from one of our guests here.

Riding a Motorbike in Vietnam

If you’ve ever considered trying to ride a motorbike or scooter, then Vietnam may be the place to try. While the traffic in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh may seem terrifying it is easy to find a quieter destination to take a motorbike tour. Destinations like Mai Chau, Ninh Binh and Pu Luong in Northern Vietnam are quiet enough to get confident in the saddle and the trip from Hue to Hoi An over the Hai Van Pass is one of Vietnam’s most beautiful rides. But, remember, safety first and always wear a helmet!

Caving in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park

In 2011, a farmer discovered the worlds largest cave in Phong Nha National Park. While this epic caving adventure can take up to a week (and plenty of money!), there are plenty of Phong Nha tours that take you into equally beautiful caves on day tours and overnight trips. We connected with the amazing adventure company Jungle Boss to offer you the best Phong Nha adventures. We love the Elephant Cave tour in the stunning Ma Da Valley.

Visiting the Incredible Ban Gioc Waterfall on the Chinese Border

One of the coolest off the beaten track adventures in Northern Vietnam is visiting the Chinese border. Here, one of Vietnam’s most incredible waterfalls forms a natural barrier with our neighbour to the north. You can take a boat trip right up to the cascading falls alongside Chinese tourists! If you combine the trip with a visit to Ba Be National Park like on this tour, you’ll also get the opportunity to explore the beautiful lakes and caves.

Beach-hopping between Mui Ne and Nha Trang

The coast between Mui Ne and Nha Trang boasts some of Vietnam’s most beautiful – and deserted – beaches. The adventure comes with trying to get to these little-visited spots where you can enjoy the ocean and sand without all the other beach bums!

Adventures in Vietnam can be found around every corner. We often joke that every town has at least one cave and one waterfall, so there is always somewhere cool to explore. These are just a few of our favourite adventures in Vietnam and the ones we know you’ll love on your trip here.

Let us know if you think we missed any great ones and get in touch if you’d like to book any of these adventures with us!
