Within Vietnam’s network of national parks and environmental reserves, Cuc Phuong Botanical Park is regarded as the country’s first meticulously constructed botanical garden. Eight additional vertebrate species have been discovered by the Garden thus far, increasing the total number of known species from 661 (in 2015) to 669 (in 2020). Apart from conducting inquiries, compiling data, and gathering samples and information in the field, the Garden also constructed the Cuc Phuong Museum and gathered the origins of the specimens kept there. As of right now, Cuc Phuong Museum is the only museum in the National Parks that is a part of the forestry industry’s scientific museum network.

Three conservation programs are still being carried out at Cuc Phuong National Park: protecting rare and endangered primates in Vietnam; protecting pangolins and small carnivores; protecting freshwater turtles; and safeguarding various other wildlife species (deer, monkeys, etc.). Cuc Phuong National Park rescues and preserves 64 species of 2700 wild animals.
