Because Ha Long City is in North Vietnam, the climate has four distinct seasons.  In June and April, it is warm without rain; in June and August, it may be hot and rainy; in September and December, the weather cools and becomes cold. Each season has its own charm here. You go swimming at Ha Long throughout the summer. Autumn is ideal for viewing a less crowded Ha Long, as well as indulging in outdoor activities and discovering recreational spots. The city is at its busiest from June to August, especially on weekends.

Transportation

From Hanoi, visitors can travel by any means. side from personal vehicles, there are limousines available for door-to-door transportation (Phuc Xuyen, Van Don Xanh, Ha Long Travel…), with ticket prices ranging from 180,000 to 220,000 VND per person.. In addition, you may board buses at stops across Hanoi. The bus ticket costs between 150,000 and 200,000 VND per passenger.

The roads Hanoi-Hai Phong and Hai Phong-Ha Long are the best options for travel. The road is beautiful, but you must follow the rules, run at the right pace, use the turn signal when changing lanes, and always wear a seatbelt. Travel duration is around 2.5 to 3 hours. If you do not have your own car, you may hire a motorbike in Ha Long for 120,000 – 200,000 VND per day. Tourists traveling in large groups, such as families, groups of friends, coworkers, etc., should hire a taxi (Mai Linh, Thanh Hung, Thinh Hung…), a Grab (bike or vehicle), or a private automobile.

The choice of accommodation in Ha Long is diverse, including budget hotels, resorts, homestays or yachts from high-end to affordable. Rents range from a few hundred thousand to several million dong. The Bai Chay Bridge divides Ha Long City into two sections: Bai Chay and Hon Gai. Bai Chay side is concentrated in many tourist areas, hotels, and restaurants, while Hon Gai is mainly residential.

Choose The Bay, Halong Ginger, Orestay, Deja Vu House… if you want a more pleasant homestay at a lesser price. If you want to be more sophisticated, you may stay at hotels such as the FLC Grand Hotel on Van Nghe Hill, the Wyndham Legend Halong, the Novotel, Sai Gon Ha Long, the Muong Thanh system, and the Royal Lotus. Vinpearl Resort and Spa, Premier Village Ha Long Bay Resort… are among the 5-star resorts. Reservations may be made through a variety of channels, including booking websites (Agoda, Booking, iVivu…), direct contact with the hotel, and Lily’s Travel agency.

Exploration Locations

Ha Long Bay is a world heritage site with natural beauty that attracts both domestic and foreign tourists. Thousands of large and small limestone islands of all forms are scattered throughout the bay, producing a stunning and distinct perspective from the rest of the world. A popular choice is to board a tour train that visits places including Ga Choi Island, Dinh Huong Island, Sung Sot Cave, Thien Cung Cave, and Titop Island…

For the most complete experience, you should take a vacation on a yacht. When going between the huge seas of the enclosed bay, with little waves and wind, you will appreciate the tranquil space and fresh air. There are several conventional 1- to 5-star cruises in Ha Long. Guests on the “floating hotels” are also fed a gourmet lunch, swim in an open pool, and watch the sunset. Some accommodation tours also have experiences such as practicing tai chi in the morning, swimming, kayaking, night squid fishing, visiting fishing villages and pearl farms, and learning to cook…

When visiting Ha Long, you may not only go on a cruise, but you can also see the bay from above by flying helicopters and seaplanes. A helicopter or seaplane ride will give you a different viewpoint on the breathtaking environment. You may enjoy a 12-minute, 25-minute, or 40-minute sightseeing trip with Halong Heli Tours. Bai Chay Beach, an artificial beach located behind Sun World Park, has been extended by about one kilometer to the sea.

Aside from Bai Chay, tourists to Ha Long may enjoy other excellent beaches, including Titop Island, Marina Bay Ha Long, Ba Trai Dao, and beaches in Tuan Chau, Sun World… Museum of Quang Ninh The Quang Ninh Museum is on Tran Quoc Nghien Street in Tuan Chau.

The ticket fee is 30,000 VND for adults, 20,000 VND for students, and 10,000 VND for children. The 25-minute picturesque flight on a Hai Au Aviation seaplane costs 1.5 million VND per passenger.

Bai Tho Mountain is 200 meters high and offers an excellent perspective of Ha Long Bay and the city. The peak was originally named Truyen Dang, or Spotlight, after the keyguard of the Northeast gate who was responsible with directing vessels on the bay thousands of years ago.

Quang Ninh Museum is on Tran Quoc Nghien Street in Tuan Chau.

Opening hours: 8h-11h30, 13h30-17h. The museum welcomes guests on weekdays except for Mondays. The ticket fee is 30,000 VND for adults, 20,000 VND for students, and 10,000 VND for children.

The first floor of the Quang Ninh Museum is a natural sea environment, the second floor showcases historical artifacts, and the third floor recreates the history of coal mining in a realistic underground model.

Tuan Chau Park

Tuan Chau Park on Tuan Chau Island is a diversified amusement park featuring fairy-tale train games, slides, roller coasters, flying saucers, cable car swings, and so on. Hours of operation: 8 a.m. to 22 p.m., ticket price: 350,000 VND per person, children under 1m are free. Tickets to see dolphins or listen to water music cost 100,000 VND for adults and 60,000 VND for youngsters.

Tran Quoc Nghien sea contour road

Tran Quoc Nghien, sea contour road, is located at 4.7 km long Hon Gai. The starting point is Bai Tho Bridge, and the endpoint is connected to Ha Long – Cam Pha Sea contour road, inaugurated in May 2020. This area has a spacious beachfront campus, creating a highlight of the landscape for the city, where people can exercise, visitors can watch Ha Long Bay, many facilities such as amusement parks, parking lots, beaches, sports areas…

Sun World Park, with a total area of 214 hectares, is one of the country’s largest amusement parks. On Ha Long Street, you’ll find Bai Chay Ancient Town. Bai Chay is one of the places appropriate for check-in travelers. Visitors can come in and snap photographs for free.

Ha Long Night Market

Ha Long Night Market is a nighttime shopping and dining delight. The market is open from 18h to 24h and is located on Ha Long Marine Boulevard in Bai Chay. Hundreds of large and small vendors sell everything from souvenirs, delicacies, and sweets to jewelry and clothing.
