The first university in Vietnam – Quoc Tu Giam, is an exciting and prominent tourist destination in Hanoi. They carry with them a holy, sacred spirit. It was built on Quoc Tu Giam Street, Dong Da, Hanoi. Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam attaches to himself a story of exciting history. At this time, the Temple of Literature was erected to worship Confucius, Zhou Gong, and the Four Orders. In addition to honoring the ancestors, the Temple of Literature is a school dedicated to the royal family. King Li Qiande was the school’s first student.

Six years later, when King Ly Nhan Tong took office, the King added Quoc Tu Giam next to the Temple of Literature. Officially became the school that allowed the children of the King and the children of the officials in the court. At this time, excellent people are allowed to attend this prestigious school. After the post-Le period, when King Le Thanh Tong ascended the throne, stelae were erected and engraved with the names of talented people who passed doctorates through examinations. Only 82 stone steles are left at the Temple of Literature located around Thien Quang Lake.

Located at 54331 m2, the Van Mieu Temple of Quoc Tu Giam complex has many architectural styles. Surrounding this campus are brick walls. The entire architecture at the Temple of Literature of Quoc Tu Giam belongs to the early architecture of the Nguyen Dynasty. This relic complex has a reasonably proportionate layout. This architecture simulates the temple of Confucius in China. But the scale in Quoc Tu Giam is simpler, bearing the traditional character of the nation.

Van Chuong Lake can be found directly in front of the Temple of Literature. The Kim Chau mound is located in the middle of the lake; before, there was a floor to stand on and observe. The main gate has four large pillars, the two on the left and right have the beer “Ha Ma.” Surrounded by solidly built walls. The Temple of Literature was built in the Tam Quan style, with the phrase “Temple of Literature” etched in ancient Chinese characters. Inside the Temple of Literature, there are five areas divided by high walls and have their entrance gate.

The first zone starts from the main gate of the Temple of Literature, moving to the Great Middle Gate. On both sides, you will see a small door called Thanh Duc Gate and Dat Tai Gate. This place is like a picture of the homeland with the green of plants, the green of water.

The second zone encompasses the area between Dai Trung Mon and Khue Van Cac. They began construction with a square floor and eight roofs. This building is designed to be harmonious and unique. The carved lines are meticulous, sophisticated, and sharp. In ancient times, this place was chosen as the place where the kings sat down to review the good speeches of the soldiers who passed the exam.

The third zone has Tianguang Lake. The square-shaped lake is surrounded by balustrades as high as the back. There are 82 stelae that extend out from the lake’s left and right sides. Each side placed 41 panels, erected vertically in a horizontal shape, facing the beer towards the lake.

The fourth zone is known as the Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam relic complex’s heart. It is home to the Great Citadel and the Temple. Great Chengmen is the place to worship Confucius and Zhou Gong,… and the location to teach in ancient times. Behind the sanctuary will be the temple. The outer court is called the Great Wall, and the inner court is called the Upper Court. A square shape connects these two buildings. The Dai Bai Court is used to worship in the spring-autumn festivals. But only the middle space is used; the rest of the rooms are left empty. This area is hung with quite a lot of angling. Far from the noise when sacrificing at the Dai Bai Building, the Upper Palace seems quieter and more quiet. This place is used to worship religious leaders.

The last zone in this area is the school district. Formerly, it was the sacred revelation area where Confucius’ parents were worshipped. In addition, this is the place to train talents in the dynasty. But when France invaded, the area was destroyed in 1946. 2000 the new ergonomic area was rebuilt, bringing harmonious architecture with ancient features similar to the front areas.
